Business Goals
Vodafone Technology’s Network as a Platform (NaaP) makes Vodafone’s key network features and capabilities available as simple APIs in a centralized API catalog. This platform exposed microservices that abstract the underlying complexity of Vodafone’s network features and capabilities, making them easy to use and integrate with other systems.
To meet the ever-changing needs and behaviors of customers, Vodafone recognized the need to streamline its operations and make the delivery of new services faster and more efficient. To achieve this goal, Vodafone aimed to reduce the time taken to deploy new changes, review its API architecture, embrace reusability where applicable, and bring efficiency into the quality assurance process.
Technological Challenges
Vodafone Technology (NaaP) started with the innovative initiative of Network as a Platform, with APIs as the core backbone & Apigee at its core for APIs. Vodafone needed help with Apigee expertise to strategize their implementation and guide their team to move at a much faster pace.
How NeosAlpha Helped
The solution involved cataloging the technical debts from existing implementation and working on a new template-based approach. NeosAlpha Apigee team optimized the template-based development approach that removed all the reusable policies to common reusable components. The solution involved optimizing the code in existing and new APIs & Train development team to use the template-based approach.
Results
The development time it took to create a new API proxy reduced substantially from days to a few hours with the new change. Also since most of the common logic was blocked as re-usable shared flows, the testing efforts are also substantially reduced for every new API proxy.
