UK-Based Leading Law Firm Migrated
From Integration Builder to Intapp Integration Services
Client Overview
Our client is a well-established UK-based law firm with a long-standing presence and a strong footprint both nationally and internationally. With a team of over 600 professionals, including 70 partners, the firm delivers a broad range of legal services across diverse industries. Recognized for its expertise and client-centric approach, it depends on modern technology platforms to support complex financial and operational processes.
As part of its digital transformation initiatives, the firm aimed to modernize its integration architecture within the Intapp ecosystem to improve reliability, scalability, and overall efficiency across its finance operations.
Business Objective
A global professional services firm relied on Intapp Integration Builder as the backbone of its integration landscape, connecting CRM, ERP, document management, and timekeeping systems. As the firm expanded globally and adopted more cloud applications, the existing on-premises integration model began to limit scalability, visibility, and agility. The objective was to modernize the integration architecture by transitioning to a cloud-ready, scalable, and secure integration platform that supports real-time data flows, enhances operational resilience, and aligns with the firm’s long-term digital strategy.

Challenges
Script-Heavy Integrations
Existing integrations were tightly coupled and heavily script-driven, making them difficult to maintain, extend, or troubleshoot as business requirements evolved.
Limited Cloud Readiness
The on-premise execution model struggled to handle increasing transaction volumes and lacked native support for hybrid and cloud-first applications.
Poor Monitoring
Integration execution operated as a black box, offering minimal runtime visibility, limited logging, and slow root-cause analysis during failures.
Authentication Constraints
The platform lacked support for modern authentication standards such as OAuth 2.0, increasing security risk and complicating integration with modern SaaS platforms.
Still relying on outdated Integration Builder workflows? Transition to a cloud-native, scalable integration ecosystem with confidence.

Integration Assessment & Rationalization
We conducted a detailed technical audit of all existing Integration Builder (IB) workflows, analyzing rule logic, schedules, SQL triggers, and data dependencies. This helped uncover performance bottlenecks, redundant flows, and fragile scripting, while clearly identifying integrations that IB could not support, such as real-time APIs and OAuth-based SaaS platforms.
Identification of Modernization Scope
Based on the assessment, we defined a clear modernization roadmap by isolating legacy integrations that required re-engineering. This included systems needing real-time processing, cloud connectivity, and secure API-based communication.
Cloud-Native Architecture Design
We designed a centralized hub-and-spoke middleware architecture using Intapp Integration Service powered by Boomi. This enabled seamless connectivity between on-premise systems (via Boomi Atoms) and modern cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and future readiness.
Enablement of Modern Integrations
The new architecture supported advanced integration capabilities that were previously not feasible in IB, including real-time event-driven workflows, API-led connectivity, and secure integrations with ERP, CRM, and SaaS applications using OAuth 2.0.
Re-engineering & Phased Migration
Legacy IB workflows were rebuilt using Boomi’s low-code, process-driven approach. Script-heavy logic was replaced with reusable components and standardized mappings. The migration was executed in phases to maintain data integrity, validate performance, and ensure zero disruption to business operations.
Governance, Security & Monitoring
We implemented enterprise-grade governance with role-based access control, secure credential management, and OAuth-based authentication. Centralized monitoring, real-time alerts, automated retries, and SLA tracking provided full visibility and significantly improved reliability and compliance.
Results
Scalable and Resilient Integration Platform
The firm achieved a cloud-ready, horizontally scalable integration foundation capable of supporting global transaction volumes.
Improved Operational Visibility
Real-time monitoring, detailed logs, and centralized dashboards significantly reduced incident resolution times and improved system reliability.
Reduced Integration Maintenance Effort
Low-code development and reusable components simplified ongoing enhancements and reduced dependency on custom scripts.
Future-Ready Digital Architecture
The modernized integration layer now supports API-led, event-driven, and real-time integrations, enabling faster adoption of new business systems.
